In the old days when Elvis was still alive and when we yearned for a white Christmas, and the Winters were a guaranteed zero degrees, the coat was a ‘must have’ and one of the big investments of the season.
Nowadays it is not so important to flaunt the latest design in warm outerwear as leather jackets, bombers, and parkas have taken over from the traditional coat.
But I have recently seen a comeback in the overcoat, and can see some great designs remerging this season.
Starting with a gorgeous herringbone at Jigsaw at £298.
Women’s Double Camel at Topshop at £59
M & S Women’s Black or Pebble coloured Coat at £45
4 seasons hooded parka at John Lewis at £229
Isabel Marant, Etoile faux fur at www.mytheresa.com for £335.000
So wrap up and enjoy the Winter ride, we need to look cool but stay very warm indeed.
